Live Streaming: White House Protest “No More Deportations”

Broadcast live streaming video on Ustream

Bishop Minerva Carcano and leaders from other faith communities from across the United States are standing outside the White House in an act of civil disobedience to protest the Obama administrations deportation practice.

From GBCS:

“We will demand an end to all deportations, and demand expanded deferred action for all undocumented immigrants.

We will march from the United Methodist Building on Capitol Hill to the White House. We will carry pictures of those who have been deported.

We will then engage in peaceful civil disobedience until we are arrested.”

Live streaming of the event is provided through the General Board of Church and Society.

NOTE: If you click on the video before they start approximately 12 Eastern then you will see a recording from a February protest. This is GBCS LiveStreaming page.

The United Methodist Reporter wants to encourage lively conversation about The United Methodist Church and our articles in the belief that Christian conversation (what Wesley would call conferencing) is a means of grace. While we support passionate debate, we cannot allow language that demeans or demonizes others, and we reserve the right to delete any comment we believe to be harmful or inappropriate. We encourage all to remember that we are all broken and in need of Christ's grace, and that we all see through the glass darkly until that time we when reach full perfection in love. May your speech here be tempered with love, and reflection of the fruits of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. After all, "There is no law against things like this." (Galatians 5:22-23)

How are these people goning to be taking care of and who is going to pay for them. The US needs to take care of its own people first. We can not afford this as a country. I am all for helping other people but there is much to be done in our own community first. I believe thw UMC should not be involved in this… Read more »
