The Rev. Laurie Haller was elected to the episcopacy on the 13th ballot by the members of the North Central Jurisdictional Conference, meeting this week in Peoria, IL. Haller’s election fills the last of four openings in the jurisdiction.
Haller currently serves as Sr. Pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Birmingham MI. A graduate of the Yale Divinity School, Haller was first ordained in the Mennonite church, transferring her credentials to the United Methodist Church in 1987. Haller has served in several congregations as well as a term as a district superintendent in the West Michigan Annual Conference where she is a member. Haller has also been a delegate to several United Methodist General Conferences.

Laurie is a wonderful person and a great spiritual leader. She saw potential in me when she was our pastor and has been a welcoming force in my life in the church and in my walk with the Lord. She will make a great Biship.
